POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Premise Guards are responsible for maintaining the SECURITY and SAFETY of GardaWorld assets, personnel and visitors by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. Premise Guards will not be allowed to work in any other capacity other than as a Premise Guard.
Normal working hours and days are variable. A half-hour unpaid lunch period is available. Two 10-minute rest periods will be provided on days of 8 hours or longer. Overtime, weekend and holiday work may be required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains surveillance by monitoring cameras; conducting perimeter checks of facility(once in the morning and once in the afternoon). Perimeter checks will be conducted by walking the perimeter and noting any security issues. (Perimeter checks cannot be conducted if there is only 1 Premise Guard manning a post at a time).
Maintains control of access/entry points. Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of premises; Greets and directs employees, customers, and visitors, to include making sure all non-employees are logged prior to entering and exiting the facility.
Conducts inspection of personal belongings or packages being carried into and out of the facility by employees, customers, and visitors as warranted. Training will be given on the proper search of employees/visitors and their property.
Controls roll-up doors for exit and entry into truck bays (only sites that are equipped with the proper set up/equipment).
There may be times when it is required for the Premise Guard to answer the main telephone line.
Cooperates with Branch Management and staff members, and is an integral part of the team effort.
Ensures employees, customers and visitors adhere to GardaWorld’s Security policy and procedures; identifies violators of policy infractions or violations and evict violators from premises.
Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Must meet company hiring criteria.
Requires a high school diploma/general equivalency diploma.
Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must have a heightened sense of security. Previous security/military related job experience is strongly preferred. Training will be provided.
Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain weapons permit.
Must possess good oral and written communication skills in the English language.
Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and supervisors in person and by telephone.
Requires a flexible work schedule based on operational needs.
Requires familiarity with all company security and operational policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
May be required to stand for long periods. The general work area is an enclosed warehouse environment but will include varying temperatures (hot and cold) and dust. A uniform must be worn during normal daily operations. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
